A bunion is a termed used for the bony bump that develops on the joint at the base of big toe. It develops when the big toe pushes against the next toe, forcing the joint of big toe to get bigger and stick out. These bony bumps may be recognized by red and sore skin over them.
Wearing tight, narrow shoes inherited structural defect, stress on the foot or some medical condition like arthritis may be the cause of these bumpy growths.
For treatment purpose medication, ice application or surgical removal can be used.
