اوٹوسکلیرسز ایک ایسی حالت ہے جس میں کان کے اندر ایک ایب نارمل ہڈی بڑھ جاتی ہے ۔ کم عمر افراد میں سننے کی صلاحیت سے محرومی کی یہ ایک عام وجہ ہے

کان کے  درمیانی حصے کے اندر موجود تین چھوٹی ہڈیاں اس ہڈی کے بڑھ جانے کی وجہ سے متاثر ہوتی ہیں ۔ان میں سے ایک ہڈی اسٹیپس اس جگہ پر پھنس جاتی ہے ۔ جس کی وجہ سے کان کی ہڈی کا ارتعاش ہونا بند ہو جاتا ہے جس کی وجہ سے آواز کی لہریں اندرونی کان تک داخل نہیں ہو سکتی ہے جسکی وجہ سے آواز سنائی نہیں دیتی ہے -

Summary about Otosclerosis in English

Otosclerosis is a medical condition in which there is an abnormal bone growth inside the ear. It is one of the common reasons of the hearing loss in young adults.
Oto means related to ear and sclerosis means abnormal hardening of body tissue.
The three small bones present in the middle part of the ear are get affected by this condition. One of those bone, stapes, becomes stuck in its place. When the vibration of this bone is stopped, the sound waves are unable to travel to the inner ear and hearing is impaired.

Symptoms of Otosclerosis

A person may experience the following symptoms in mild cases or when otosclerosis first begins:

• hearing loss that gets gradually worse with time
• difficulty in hearing low, deep sounds and whispers
• hearing sounds, such as buzzing or humming, that come from inside your body (tinnitus)
• dizziness (though this is rare)
• speaking in low voice because your voice sounds loud to you
• finding it easier to hear when there's background noise (unlike many other types of hearing loss)

One or both ears are affected by this condition. Normally people in their 20s to 30s notice the symptoms of otosclerosis.

Causes of Otosclerosis

The exact cause of otosclerosis is unknown. But the condition is seen in people who have family history of otosclerosis. So genetic factors can be the reason behind it.
The three small bones stuck in the middle ear that cause the condition like otosclerosis.

Preventive Measures of Otosclerosis

There are no preventive measures for otosclerosis. As the cause behind it is still unknown. But if you have family history of otosclerosis, you should notice your symptoms and get your ears checked by your doctor once a year.

Treatment

The otosclerosis is treated by hearing aids and surgery.

Hearing aids are devices that increases the volume of sound entering your ear so you can hear things more clearly.

The surgical procedure performed to treat otosclerosis is known as stapedotomy or stapedectomy. The surgery is done to remove the part of the stapes bone and a plastic or metal implant is put into the ear to transmit sound from the remaining bones into the inner ear.
