Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the tissue that acts as a linker between the heel bone and the toes. The disease gets its name from the ligament that is the plantar fascia. The normal function of this tissue is to absorb the shock and stress whenever a person walks, runs, jogs, jumps or does any other physical activity that involves feet.

This tissue gets damaged every day because of the continuous stress on it. Sometimes, this damage is greater than what the tissue can bear which leads to tearing of the ligament or permanent damage.
