Summary about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in English

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disease that causes problems in women of reproductive age. If you have PCOS, your ovaries get bigger and contain follicles, which are bags filled with fluid. These follicles are underdeveloped sacs in which the eggs develop and are harmless. These bags can not release an egg, causing ovulation. PCOS is linked to hormonal imbalance and is one of the main causes of female infertility.

The most common symptoms of the disease are the irregular menstrual cycle, abnormal hair growth on the face and body, acne and weight gain. Symptoms often appear when a woman having a period, but can also be triggered by weight gain. The exact cause of this disorder is unknown. However, risk factors include weight gain, lack of exercise, and family history.

Symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Symptoms of PCOS may appear at puberty with the first menstrual cycle. However, it is not the same in all cases and some women may develop this later in adulthood with corpulence being the major causative agent. Symptoms such as :

  • Male pattern baldness.
  • Hirsutism.
  • Excessive hair on the face and body.
  • Abnormally large ovaries where follicles surround the eggs and hinder the normal functioning of ovaries.

Causes of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
