Sore throats infections are painful. Scratches or throat irritation, which often worsens if swallowed. The most common cause of a sore throat (pharyngitis) is a viral infection such as a cold or flu. A sore throat caused by a virus dissolves itself. Strep throat (streptococcal infection), a less common type of sore throat caused by a bacterium, requires antibiotic treatment to prevent complications. Other less common causes of a sore throat may require more complex treatment.
Another type of throat infection which is less common and caused by bacteria needs potent antibiotics to cure. Significant symptoms associated with this are following

- White patches or pus on your tonsils
