About Lasik

I am 16 years old and my eyesight is weak ( of distance). I have been wearing spectacules for about 3 and half years. Early it was problem of one eye only but now eyesight of both eyes is weak (now is about 2.25 of distance) I want to get rid of these glasses. Just wanna know about LASIK. Is it safe? Or i should ask is it 100% safe? Or is it costly? My mother is really very careful about my eyes. She doesn't allow me to use contact lense. Plz also tell me about Contact lenses (are they safe). Plz give me all info about lasik. I shall be thankful to you.

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery that corrects common visual conditions known as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. During a LASIK procedure, an advanced laser is used to reshape the eye’s cornea, thereby improving its ability to refract light properly on the retina. The result is clear vision and freedom from eyeglasses or contact lenses. When performed by an experienced surgeon, LASIK is a safe and effective treatment with life-changing benefits.
Manual LASIK less costly. Newest Femto laser LASIK a bit more costly but far more safe and comfortable procedure with promising results.
Avoid contact lenses as far as possible. But can use good company lenses for short time with extra care.

Any laser procedure can b done only when sure that eyesight number is not increasing or changing for at least 1 year i.e, 19y or higher in girls and 21y in boys usually.

Don't go for any refractive surgery before 21. you can use contact lens in this period. but best you should wear glasses and regular check up every 6 months is mandatory.

hello usually persons with stable eye sight and age group from 18 to 40 are considered good candidates. considering what you have told me you need to be examined first then consider LASIK .by the way if you dont have any previous eye problem i would suggest contact lenses for parties and functions etc . as long as you dont sleep with them on!!!!. by the way having a nice personality is a lot more important than not wearing glasses . and in addition if things go wrong then theres little you can do about it

if your eye sight is stable and your minimum age is 18 and your pentacam test scans for your corneal health are within the suitable range then you could be a suitable candidate for the Refractive Surgery. In Amanat Eye Hospital we have latest equipment called VisuMax Smile to perform this surgery. For more details you can visit our website amanathospital.com. Regards
