I went for the eyes checkup of my son and doctor diagnosed him with poor sightedness. He also prescribed him XINOXY ointment and also OPHTH-ATROPINE ointment. He was fine with XINOXY but the moment we put OPTh-ATROPINE in his eyes, his eyes n face got swelled n the body got heated. As he is a school going kid,so, in the evening when he was doing homework, he was unable to trace the dots of his ABC. As per he, he couldn’t see the lines. I am unable to understand the situation. Has the medicine reacted or he’ acting as a scapegoat
atropine can cause redness and fever but it is must for eye check up before 5yr age.... use calpol syrup.... your kid would be unable to focus for near for 2 to 3 weeks as an effect of atropine which had relaxed his eye muscles
Atropine is used to check refractive error by some Ophthalmologists in this age group that your child is in. When putting the drop these symptoms can appear and they are told beforehand. It will also blur his near vision for a few weeks. Once you stop the medication his near vision will return in a few weeks.

This is a side effect of atropine eye drops. pl stop them immediately. Remember that this side effect remain for two weeks after stopping the drops.
its all happening due to atropine so better to contact ophthalmologist again as it has started its effect what ur eye specialist wants to check for refractive error if he wants...and stop immediately and it wil be like this atleast for 2 weeks
