Typhoid is usually treated with antibiotics for about 10 to 14 days. Some doctors may even treat for as long as 21 days depending upon the severity of fever. If the fever subsides and she feels well with return of appetite , stop the antibiotic after 2 weeks. But if the treatment is discontinued after just 4 or 5 days even if the symptoms have improved , there are chances that thypoid may reoccur and then the same antibiotic would not help due to development of resistance. During pregnancy , it is important to take good care of diet and get regular check ups from her gynecologist to make sure the baby is growing well.
