Asking For Mother, Female 52, Karachi

Assalam o Alikum

My mom has been suffering from high blood pressure for last 2-3 years. He BP was in control when she earlier but for last 6 months it has been going up from normal 125/82 to 165/95 without any reason.

She is taking 2 Medicines one in morning one at night before sleeping but still sometimes it increases without any reason and sometimes a little pinch of extra salt make it go up.

We had her cholesterol checked and ldl was normal but HDL was below normal range.

She feels tired and weak almost all the time.

She's also taking multivitamin tablets but it's not making any difference.

Which type of doctor should we consult? General Physician or Cardiologist?

Please explain a little why is she feeling that way and how to solve this.

Thank You for reading.

You can see a General Physician, a consultant Physician (specialist in Internal Medicine) or a Cardiologist. But I would recommend a specialist physician at this time.
I would've liked to know your mom's height and weight too so I could workout her BMI.
No matter. Before you go to a physician have your mother's sugar, calcium, vitamin D3 and T3, T4, TSH levels checked. These are all blood tests. It is better if you do a fasting blood sugar (before breakfast in morning) and then a sugar level 2 hours after breakfast too.
Blood pressure is a funny thing. Many people who suffer high blood pressure in middle age do not show any causes for the rise. However, it is mostly manageable with lifestyle changes to make oneself active. Regular physical activity like 40 minutes of brisk walk, proper sleep and disciplined meal timings can help a lot. A secret is also proper water intake.
However, our current life styles that limit us inside our houses and flats and ban our exposure to the sun except through window glass which does not allow production of vitamin D and robs our bones and muscles of calcium, causes weakness. Also, high levels of carbon dioxide in our sealed rooms that allow zero fresh air in and our airconditioners that keep recirculating our exhaled Carbon Dioxide all night ensure that we have headaches, muscle fatigue and weakness when we wake up.
If you increase her skin sun exposure up to 40 minutes a day before 10am and after 3pm when the sun is not angry, and if you add fresh air to an AC cooler room at nigeither adding a fresh air vent or leaving a window 20% open, she might start feeling marginally better in a week.
Blood pressure normal ranges are 90 to 139 for upper reading and 60 to 89 for lower reading 140/ 90 is borderline high. So your mom's BP 1655/ 95 needs to be addressed quickly. Initially that may only be possible through modifying or adding to her current medication. Over the next few months, with lifestyle modification, she may get back to reduced dosage.

Thank You so much for detailed answer.

We don't have AC our whole apartment gets fresh air 24/7.

Just two days ago her blood pressure went up to 177/102 even after taking two medicines and keeping one under tounge it didn't went down so I took her to KIHD and in emergency room they sprayed something under her tongue and within 15 minutes it came down to 144/92 so they said it will get back to normal in 30 minutes. So I came home and since then her BP is normal but she is feeling tired after that high bp.

You should see a cardiologist in person with all her previous medical record.
