Talk to Psychiatry on Fatigue, Pain, Anxiety

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 28 years old, Lahore

I suffer from body aches.. especially legs, arms, shoulders and back. I have difficulty in losing weight. I feel extreme fatigue all the time. I get anxiety attacks often. It feels like i have fever but it never comes up in the thermometer. I lack any sort of motivation to do anything in my life. I used to have irregular periods but its been fine since past six months. My hairs are also frizzy and I suffer from hair fall. I got my vit d levels checked back in 2011 and they were quite low around 4ng/ml (i took those vit d injections back then)

I think you should get your thyroid profile and base line
labs(CBC,left,rft,serum electrolytes, blood sugar fasting)checked.if
normal, you should consult a psychiatrist. These bodily complains are very
common in anxiety and depressive disorders and can be easily treated.so if
baseline test are normal, don't feel any stigma or shyness in seeing a
psychiatrist.it can be one of the best decisions of your life.if however
lab test show some abnormality, visit medical specialist first.

I was diagnosed with hep c back when i tested for vit d (i was 21) .. it was in very early stage.. i was on interferon and ribavirin back then (dr Ghias un nabi tayyab was my doctor).. it all cleared out by grace of Allah.. along with that i was on citalopram plus lexotanil as well for more than a year i think... During the time i took these antidepressants i was fine.. but once i stopped the depression kicked back in.

I would second Dr Aneel Shafi who has generously answered your queries.
Secondly psychiatrists do not put anyone on medication where it is not needed, infact we are the ones who get the patients when their symptoms are not getting better on any treatment by other doctors and one of the worst things is the addiction of sleeping drugs which when stopped causes rebound anxiety and also some mood issues.
Please get the baseline investigations as advised by Dr Aneel .
Vit D defiency, anemia, interferon therapy and hypothyroidism all lead to depression.
Our aim is to treat the cause not the symptoms.
hopefully you will benefit from Psychiatric consultation.
