Usually, fasting isn’t a tough challenge for Muslim Students. They are able to do just as fine as they normally would, even during summer. But when your fasting gets tangled up with exams, it feels like the toughest challenge of your Students life. It’s already hard to focus and think rationally on usual days during exam season. But to bear that stress without eating or drinking for the whole day IN this unforgiving summer heat, it’s mind-numbing.

1. Adjust Your Routine According To The Changes
When you have Ramadan, your routine changes drastically. You have to wake up for Suhoor. And there isn’t much time left to sleep after Tarawih (additional night payers) till Suhoor. Most of the Muslims, especially young adults don’t sleep during these hours. They sleep after offering Fajar (morning prayer).
Although your sleep schedule alters completely, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to become an insomniac to prepare. You can divide your eating and non-eating hours according to the suitability of the task. For example:
- Students can start your preparation after Tarawih and continue it untill Suhoor. During these night hours, you feel quite active and fresh. Plus you can have midnight snacks too!
- After offering Fajar, you can go to sleep. Sleep till Zuhar (afternoon prayer). It will give you 8 to 10 hours of sleep!
- When you’re finished with Zuhar, start preparing again till Iftar (evening meal).
- Take a short rest after eating Iftar and offering Maghrib (evening prayer). You’ll have a good one-hour rest till Tarawih.
- Then start all over again!

2. Devise Tactful Revision Scheme
It’s hard to understand difficult concepts and go through dense notes on an empty stomach. So, it might not be a good idea to learn from textbook during fasting hours. You can condense important points and key concepts in a way that will be easier to absorb. Use bullets, flow sheets, revision cards, or mind-maps as effective learning tools. Try to do the bulk of revision before fasting starts. Write brief notes and make your revision cards before you start feeling hungry.
3. Eat Healthy And Well
It’s understandable that after being hungry and thirsty for the whole day, you’ll want to enjoy a delicious meal. However, it’s very helpful to avoid eating oily and sugary foods because they make you lazy and overfull. Choose foods that fill you up and release energy slowly, like fruits, porridge, and rice.
