Hating the way, you look, you talk, not wanting to speak your mind and being very conscious of the way you act around others are symptoms of a condition called low self esteem. Low self esteem can affect your lifestyle if it gets out of hand. To help people who have low self esteem, here are 5 tips:

Appreciate yourself

At the end of each day, think about all of the good things that you did that benefited others. It can be as small as making someone laugh but as long as it made the other person happy, it still counts. Try to think of these things as it will help you appreciate yourself by giving a unique value to your help.

Limit social media

Research has shown that the use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap chat has been linked to show low self esteem in people who compare their things with the online things. Social media sets impossible expectations of a perfect person which indirectly effects the way a person would think after viewing it. So, try not to log in to your Facebook or Instagram account if you can help it.

Find a hobby

Find something that you really like doing like sports, cooking, arts, or volunteering and join a group that does those things. Surrounding yourself with people that have the same hobby as you can open many possibilities of getting together and talking about your similarities. It can also boost your confidence by you sharing your ideas with your group.

Learn from your shortcomings

Everybody makes mistakes, but only some get up and learn from them. Some of the greatest people in the world made many mistakes to get to where they are right now in life. Making mistakes helps build your character and also helps you learn from people and from it. It gives you the opportunity to become even better and also gives you courage to say that you tried something new that another person couldn’t do.

Be positive

Stay positive and don’t let your negative thoughts affect the way you think about yourself. Be honest to yourself and take responsibility for your actions. Be your own best friend.
