She was only 21 years old when she died after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth but she refused to be pitied and determined to live a life that matters.

And she succeeded in it very well because she gave hope to millions of people with her inspirational talks, videos, and the creation of her foundation, Claire’s Place Foundation. There’s a lot more to tell you all about this beautiful soul but before that, I would like to give you a brief introduction about cystic fibrosis, the disease she was fighting for a long time.

What Is Cystic Fibrosis?

It is a genetic disease that causes persistent lungs infections. This disease limits the person’s ability to breath over the time and affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices. Although cystic fibrosis requires special care on daily basis, people living with this condition are usually able to attend school and work. This disease is incurable but screenings and treatments given to the people now make them able to live into their mid 30’s. We are just sad that Claire couldn’t even go so far.

Claire Become Renowned For Her Posts About Illness And Mortality:

Claire spent a quarter of her life in the hospital; the medical team working with her became family. She even played hide-n-seek with nurses and decorated her hospital room. Claire has accepted her fate with open arms. She had 132k followers on Instagram and over a quarter million followers on YouTube. She took social media as a platform to speak about life with the genetic disorder. Claire created her own foundation, which heightens public awareness about cystic fibrosis. Her foundation provides education, life skills, inspiration, and positive support to the families which help them to improve the quality of their life. It is just amazing how a girl in pain inspired everyone around her.

She Underwent A Successful Lung Transplant But Suffered A Stroke:

Claire suffered a massive stroke after her 9-hour double lung transplant surgery. The stroke was caused by a blood clot, and then her family decided to take her off life support. According to her medical staff, she was not in pain and it was the most peaceful passing they’ve ever witnessed.

Claire Was Able To Save Lives Even After Her Death:

Claire made her organs available for transplant. Her right kidney was transplanted to a 44-year-old woman in San Deigo, and her left kidney was transplanted to a 55-year-old man in Northern California. Moreover, her corneas and tissues were also recovered, which will help to enhance the lives of up to 50 people. Her gift is huge and we can’t even imagine how great she was.

Many celebrities and fans are paying tribute to Claire Wineland. They are sharing their condolences and heartfelt messages on Twitter and Instagram. She was loved all over the world because she was an inspiration and brought joy to many. In her last emotional video message, she said: “Go enjoy your life. Really. I mean that seriously.
