    Cyrocin 500mg tablet is commonly used to treat certain types of serious bacterial infections such as infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, stomach, skin, soft tissues, bones, or joints. It works by slowing down the replication of the bacteria and creating DNA breaks. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and is effective in treating different types of infections.

    What is the price of a Cyrocin Tablet?

    In Pakistan, a pack of 10 Cyrocin tablets costs between 250- 350 PKR. It is available both online and at pharmacies.

    Cyrocin Tablet – Mode of Action 

    Ciprofloxacin is a member of the fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial agents. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative bacteria. The mode of action of Cyrocin is to inhibit the enzymes topoisomerase which is required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.

    Possible Side Effects of Cyrocin Tablet:

    Ciprofloxacin may cause the following side effects. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these symptoms become severe or do not go away:

    • Nausea and Vomiting
    • Stomach pain
    • Heartburn
    • Diarrhea
    • Vaginal itching or smelly discharge
    • Pale skin
    • Unusual tiredness

    Infrequent and rare Side-effects:

    Following are the infrequent and rare side effects of this medicine:

    • Abnormal gait
    • Angina pectoris
    • Anosmia
    • Asthenia
    • Bad taste
    • Blurred vision
    • Jaundice
    • Crystalluria
    • Decreased appetite
    • Decreased visual acuity
    • Depersonalization
    • Diplopia

    Cyrocin Dosage:

    1. Recommended Dosage for skin and soft tissues infection: 500-750 mg every 12 hours for 1-2 weeks
    2. Dosage for stomach and intestinal bacterial infections: 500-750 mg twice a day for 1-2 week
    3. Bone and joint infections dosage: 500-750 mg every 12 hours for 4-8 weeks
    4. Dosage for typhoid fever: 500 mg every 12 hours for 10 days
    5. Dosage for sexually transmitted infections: 500 mg as a single dose
    6. Dosage for anthrax: 500 mg every 12 hours for 60 days

         Children (1-17 years)

    • Recommended: 10-20 mg/kg (4.5-9.1 mg/lb) every 12 hours for 10-21 days
    • Maximum: 750 mg per dose every 12 hours for 10-21 days

    Instructions for Taking Cyrocin Tablet:

    • Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
    • Do not use dairy products and calcium-fortified juices while taking this medicine.
    • Use 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking magnesium/aluminum antacids, phosphorus binders, or sucralfate.
    • Drink plenty of water to avoid forming highly concentrated urine.
    • Avoid photosensitivity by avoiding direct sunlight and wearing sunscreen, suitable glasses and protective clothing.

    Storage Information:

    Cyrocin tablet should be stored at room temperature between 68° to 77°F (20° to 25°C) away from moisture and light. Keep medication out of reach of children and pets.

    Do not use Cyrocin for any condition for which it is not prescribed. Do not give Cyrocin tablet to anyone else who may have the same conditions or symptoms similar to you. Self-medication can cause harm.

    If you use too much of this medicine, it could raise to dangerous levels. In such cases, symptoms of an overdose may include:

    • Abnormal functioning of the kidneys
    • Abnormal functioning of the liver
    • Blood in the urine (haematuria)
    • Cloudy appearance of urine (crystalluria)
    • Confusion
    • Dizziness
    • Hallucinations
    • Headache
    • Reversible kidney damage
    • Seizures
    • Stomach discomfort
    • Tiredness
    • Tremors

    Warnings:

    • Musculoskeletal Disorders

    Patients under the age of 18 are at increased risk when using Cyrocin tablets. This drug increases your risk of joint-related side effects.

    • Allergic Reactions

    Patients receiving the first dose of Cyrocin are at increased risk of developing a serious and fatal allergic reaction. This medicine may cause unconsciousness, swelling due to fluid accumulation in the pharynx or inside the face, hives, stinging, itching, and difficulty breathing. A severe allergic reaction to Cyrocin tablets may require emergency treatment, including airway management.

    • Development of Drug-Resistant Bacteria

    Patients taking Cyrocin in the presence or absence of a strong bacterial infection are at high risk for decreased efficacy of Cyrocin tablets. 

    In order to take effective treatment against infections, you should book an appointment with an infectious disease doctor and consult your problems.

    According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ciprofloxacin (500 mg orally, twice daily for 60 days) is the antibiotic of choice for initial prophylactic treatment in asymptomatic pregnant women exposed to anthrax.

    2. Can children take Cyrocin tablets?

    Cyrocin tablets can be taken by most adults and children from 1 year of age.
