What Causes Fibroids?
To date, no exact cause of fibroids is detected. However, research studies point the following factors to be the cause of fibroids.
Genetics:
Fibroids transcend in families. If you have a close relative affected by fibroids, you are at increased risk of developing these.
Estrogen and Progesterone:
Fibroids are affected by estrogen and progesterone concentrations in the body. Fibroids have a high amount of estrogen and progesterone receptors compared to normal uterine cells. When there is a high level of these hormones in body fibroids tend to grow rapidly.
