    If you have lower backache, you are not alone. About 85% of adults experience low back pain at some speck in their lifetimes. Lower back pain can vary from slow pain that develops gradually to sudden, sharp or persistent & relentless pain felt below the waist. It may travel downward into the buttocks and sometimes into one or both lower ends. The most prevalent cause is muscle strain or Muscular pressure often related to heavy physical labor, lifting or vigorous movement, bending, curving or twisting into awkward positions, or standing in one position for too long.

    Understanding and Treating Lower Back Spasms!

    A back spasm is an involuntary contraction or stiffening & hunching of the muscles in the lower back. Backache takes the lead among common chronic circumstances. With any number of factors that may include injury, illness, and inactivity. It is best to first identify the origin & causes of your back pain in order to find effective treatment. Whether you choose a systematic plan of alternative remedies or a prevailing approach, the ultimate goal is to reduce lower back pain while improving your overall quality of life.

    Causes Of Chronic Low Back Pain

    The most common cause of lower back pain is a ruptured or pulled muscle or ligament. These injuries include damage to the intervertebral discs ( situated between vertebrae), compression of nerve roots, and imprudent movement of the spinal joints. It often develops without a particular cause that your doctor may analyze with a test or imaging study. If you find any of the below conditions of Lower Back Pain, find and consult a doctor.

    Back Pain causes

    Muscle or ligament strain

    Repeated heavy lifting or an unexpected & unusual movement may strain back muscles and spinal ligaments. If you are in a low physical condition, constant strain on your back may cause painful muscle outburst. Common causes of muscular Sprain & strains may include:

      • Lifting a heavy object, or twisting of spine in a wrong direction while lifting.
      • Sudden movements that causes stress on the lower back area, such as a fall.
      • Poor posture.
      • Sports injuries, especially in sports that involve twisting.

    Osteoporosis

    Your spinal vertebrae can develop confining fractures, if your bones become porous and weak. Osteoporosis can cause sudden & severe back pain that gets worsen when you are standing or walking.

    Slipped Or Ruptured Disks

    Spinal discs play a critical role in the lower back. It serves as a shock absorber between the vertebrae, advocating the upper body, and allowing a wide range of movement in all directions. It is one of the most common causes of low back pain, also linked with leg pain called Sciatica. When pressure is fixed on the spine, the disc’s outer ring may swollen, crack, or tear. This may irritate the nerve, results in shooting pains into the buttock & severe leg pain.

    Arthritis

    Arthritis is the most common cause of lower back pain, especially in late 50s.Osteoarthritis results from wear and tear of the disc and facet joints. It causes relentless & severe pain, inflammation, instability, and stenosis or blockage to a variable degree, and can occur at any levels of the lower spine. Spinal osteoarthritis is related with aging and is slowly progressive. It is also referred to as degenerative joint disease.

    Skeletal irregularities

    Severe Backache can occur if your spine twists abnormally. Scoliosis, a condition in which your spine twists to the side, also may lead to back pain. It may lead to the breakdown of the discs, facet joints, sacroiliac joints.

    Less commonly, Low Back pain can be a sign of some serious medical conditions, such as diabetes or a pinched nerve. In the case of a pinched nerve, the pain may be go along with symptoms like fever, chills, night sweats, or loss of bladder control.     A Healthy Diet

    Healthy diet is very important for a healthy back. Accompanied with a proper nutrition helps in maintaining a healthy weight, which puts less stress on your joints and back.

    • A diet that is rich in Calcium, Vitamin D, as well as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, energizes your body and dominates your muscles. Drinking plenty of water is a must.
    • It helps reduce inflammation, which is the culprit of many conditions for chronic pain.

    Regular Physical Activities

    Your back works hard for you, right? The greater you take care of it, the lower your risk for developing back spasms will become.

    • Losing a few pounds if you are overweight will definitely help relieve the stress on your spine and the joints.
    • Standing up straight and wearing low-heeled shoes will help keep stability and strength in your lower back.
    • Regular physical activity like exercises to calm your back and abdomen will also help keeps you moving and feeling great.
    • Spending too much time in bed or in a chair will lead to worsening back problems.
