Taking care of more aging parents requires the dedication of your time and energy; specific steps have to be born to provide them a secure and healthy. Changes in body posture and gait are common with aging. Changes within the muscles, joints, and bones affect our posture and walk, resulting in weakness and slowed or restricted movement as we age. Effect on bone’s health Because Of Aging:

    • People deteriorate bone mass or density as they age, particularly women after menopause. The bones deplete calcium and other minerals.
    • The spine’s bone is called vertebrae. A gel-like cushion is located between each bone (called a disk). The trunk (middle of the body) becomes shorter as the discs lose fluid and become thinner as we age.
    • Vertebrae may lose their mineral content, which makes each bone thinner. The spinal column becomes compressed and curved (packed together). Bone spurs may form on the vertebrae as a result of aging and overall spine use.
    • The foot arches become less prominent, contributing to a slight loss of height.
    • The joints become stiffer and less flexible. Fluid in the joints may be reduced. The cartilage may start to rub together and wear away. Minerals may accumulate in and around some joints (calcification). This is common around the shoulder.
    • Hip and knee joints may begin to lose cartilage (degenerative changes). The finger joints lose cartilage, and the bones thicken slightly. Women are more likely than men to develop finger joint changes, most commonly bony swelling called osteophytes. These modifications may be passed down from generation to generation.
    • Lean body mass decreases. This decrease is caused in part by the loss of muscle tissue (atrophy). Genes appear to be responsible for the rate and amount of muscle change.

    Things To Do For Managing Bone Health Of Your Old Parents:

    Come, let’s discuss how the things to do for managing good bone’s health of your parents;

    Consume A Well-Balanced Diet

    Diet has a significant impact on bone’s health. In addition to calcium and vitamin D, other nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin B12, protein, magnesium, and others are essential. That entails eating a diet high in whole foods so that the body receives nutrients in its natural form. Seniors should strive to “eat the rainbow” by including colorful fruits and vegetables in their diets, particularly dark green vegetables, which can be a good source of calcium. Consume lean proteins and omega-3 fatty acid-rich fish as well. Instead of salt, use season foods with spices and herbs, as too much sodium can interfere with calcium absorption and harm health.

    Weight-bearing Exercises Should Be Performed

    Exercising your bones is another way to keep them healthy. Regular exercise strengthens and builds muscles, but it also affects the bones that support those muscles. Squats, stairs (or stair machines), elliptical machines, yoga, pushups, or exercises involving resistance bands, handheld weights, or ankle weights should all be included in your workout routine. Consider a personal trainer who may assist you in remaining safe and developing a way that is tailored to your specific needs and abilities.

    Improve Their Coordination And Balance

    Balance and coordination activities can also be beneficial. While it does not necessarily strengthen bones, it can lower the risk of falling, protecting bones. A personal trainer or senior fitness class can also help in this regard. You should motivate your parents to join such courses to make their bones strong and healthy.

    Consult Your Physician for your bone health

    Talk to your doctor about the issues of bones and how you can protect your health. To determine current bone density, your doctor may recommend a bone density scan. They can also tell you if you need vitamins or supplements to ensure you’re getting enough nutrients each day. Do not let your parents face this pain alone.
