My family member was diagnosed with well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus. We first visited AKU, where they recommended placing an esophageal stent and then referred us to an oncologist. The oncologist told us that the treatment would essentially be the same whether we continued at AKU or with Dr. Hayat Sasoli. We decided to start treatment with Dr. Hayat Sasoli, and I can honestly say we have no regrets. Cancer is never an easy journey, and I cannot comment on the final outcome, but I can definitely speak about the quality of care we have received. Dr. Hayat Sasoli is one of those doctors who genuinely listens. He never rushes through appointments, answers every question patiently, and makes sure both the patient and the family understand what is happening. His calm and caring attitude gives you confidence during one of the most difficult times of your life. The biggest difference he made was with our patient. Initially, he was in complete denial and refused to undergo any treatment. After meeting Dr. Hayat Sasoli and having an open conversation with him, his mindset completely changed. He agreed to start treatment, which was something we had been struggling to convince him to do for weeks. For that alone, our family will always be grateful.
