PIMS (Pakistan Institue of Medical Sciences) has expanded its services and equipment to meet the growing needs of the human health community.

Objectives of P.I.M.S to provide tertiary care centre and also serves as a referral hospital for the education/training of doctors and other health professionals at different levels of medicine and surgery.

The establishment of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (P.I.M.S) in Islamabad opens a bright new era for Pakistani citizens, especially for the people of the capital.

The plan conceived in the 1960s (1960) was finally implemented. Originally located under the name of Islamabad Hospital Complex (IHC), the initial location is located at the facilities of the National Institute of Health, but due to its central location, it has been moved to the preferred location of the current location. In 1975, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) established a construction plan for the hospital. Pakistani engineers created a master plan in 1978, which leaves room for future changes and improvements.

In addition to providing health care facilities to residents of Rawalpindi-Islamabad and the surrounding areas, PIMS will serve as a national reference centre and provide specialized diagnostic and curative services to referrals from other hospitals/institutions.

If the Institute of Medical Sciences of Pakistan is fully operational, it will become a centre of excellence and a model for medical education and research.

PIMS Hospital is a 592-bed hospital located at Sector G-8/3 Islamabad. This hospital has in-patient and out-patient facilities. It offers emergency service, specialist OPDs, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Gynae/obs, ENT and Eye, Peads, ICU, Neonatal ICU, Medical ICU and so on.
