Cefim Capsule uses include the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ear, throat, tonsils, and chest, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea. It contains cefixime, a cephalosporin antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping them from building their cell walls. Use it only under medical supervision because antibiotics must be taken for the full course and do not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

Your doctor might give you Cefim Capsule for:

• Urinary tract infections
• Middle ear infections
• Throat and tonsil infections
• Flare-ups of chronic bronchitis
• Uncomplicated gonorrhoea

Cefim Capsule Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Adult Dosage:

• Usual dose: 400mg once daily, or 200mg every 12 hours
• Gonorrhoea: a single 400mg dose
• Throat infections due to streptococcus: at least 10 days
• Kidney problems: your doctor will lower the dose

Children Dosage:

• Over 12 years or over 45kg: same as adult dosage
• Younger children: the suspension is used, dosed by body weight
• Not recommended for babies under 6 months

How to Take:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
• Take it at the same time each day.
• Complete the full course, even if you feel better.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is near; never take two doses together.

Don't use Cefim Capsule if you:

• Are allergic to cefixime or other cephalosporin antibiotics

• Reduced urine output
• Unusual bruising or bleeding

• Do not use after expiry date
