Voltral Emulgel uses include relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation in sprains, strains, bruises, backache, sports injuries, tendonitis, and osteoarthritis. It contains diclofenac diethylamine, an anti-inflammatory painkiller that passes through the skin and blocks the chemicals that cause pain and swelling. Use it only as advised by a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you need it for more than 2 weeks or on large areas of skin.

Your doctor might give you Voltral Emulgel for:

• Sprains

Voltral Emulgel Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Adult Dosage:

• Apply 2g to 4g of gel to the painful area 3 to 4 times a day
• Leave at least 4 hours between applications
• Do not apply more than 4 times in 24 hours
• See your doctor if pain from a muscle or joint injury does not improve within 2 weeks
• For osteoarthritis, your doctor should review the treatment after 4 weeks
• Older adults can use the usual adult dose

Children Dosage:

• 14 years and older: same as adult dosage, and see a doctor if it is needed for more than 7 days
• Not recommended for children under 14 years

How to Apply:

• Wash your hands before use.
• Squeeze out a small amount of gel and rub it gently into the painful or swollen area.
• Wash your hands after applying, unless you are treating your hands.
• Let the gel dry for a few minutes before putting on a light bandage.
• Do not cover it with an airtight or waterproof dressing.
• Apply it only to unbroken, healthy skin.

Voltral Emulgel Warnings

Don't use Voltral Emulgel if you:

• Are allergic to diclofenac or any ingredient
• Have had asthma, hives, swelling, or a runny nose after aspirin, ibuprofen, or another NSAID
• Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
• Are under 14 years of age

Voltral Emulgel Precautions

Talk with your doctor first if you:

• Are pregnant in the first 6 months or planning a pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have had a stomach ulcer or stomach bleeding
• Are taking NSAID painkillers by mouth
• Need to use it on a large area of skin or for a long time

Also, remember:

• It is for external use only and must not be swallowed
• Keep it away from the eyes, mouth, and inside of the nose
• Do not apply it to cuts, open wounds, rashes, or eczema
• Do not apply it to the breasts if you are breastfeeding
• Avoid strong sunlight and sun lamps on the treated skin
• Do not smoke or go near open flames, as there is a risk of severe burns
• Stop using it if a skin rash develops

Serious side effects:

• Skin becoming more sensitive to sunlight

• Do not use after expiry date
