About Voren Injection

Voren Injection uses include short-term relief of severe pain such as kidney stone pain, arthritis flare-ups, acute back pain, gout attacks, injuries, fractures, and pain after surgery. It contains diclofenac sodium, an anti-inflammatory painkiller that blocks the chemicals in the body that cause pain and swelling. It is given only by a doctor or nurse, usually for no more than 2 days, because it can cause stomach bleeding and raise the risk of heart problems.

Your doctor might give you Voren Injection for:

• Kidney stone pain
• Flare-ups of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
• Acute back pain
• Acute gout
• Injuries and fractures
• Pain after surgery

Voren Injection Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Adult Dosage:

• Usual dose: 75mg once a day as a deep injection into the buttock
• Severe cases: 75mg twice a day, with the second injection in the other buttock
• Kidney stone pain: 75mg, and a second 75mg after 30 minutes if needed
• Do not use more than 150mg in a day, including diclofenac tablets or suppositories
• Not given for more than 2 days, after which tablets or suppositories may be used if needed
• Older adults should get the lowest dose that works

Children Dosage:

• Not recommended for children

How to Take:

• Voren Injection is given by a doctor or nurse, not at home.
• It is injected deep into the muscle of the buttock.
• If a second injection is needed on the same day, it is given in the other buttock.
• It is usually used for no more than 2 days.
• Your doctor may switch you to tablets or suppositories if you still need treatment.

Voren Injection Warnings

Don't use Voren Injection if you:

• Are allergic to diclofenac, sodium metabisulphite, or any ingredient
• Have had asthma, hives, swelling, or a runny nose after aspirin, ibuprofen, or another NSAID
• Have a stomach or gut ulcer, or bleeding or a tear in the stomach or gut
• Have had stomach bleeding or a tear in the gut after taking an NSAID
• Have had two or more stomach ulcers or stomach bleeds
• Are in the last 3 months of pregnancy
• Have liver failure or kidney failure
• Have heart failure or heart disease
• Have poor blood flow in the legs
• Have had a stroke or have blood vessel disease in the brain

Voren Injection Precautions

Talk with your doctor first if you:

• Have had stomach problems in the past
• Have high blood pressure
• Have mild or moderate kidney or liver problems
• Have asthma or allergies
• Have a bleeding problem
• Are dehydrated
• Take blood thinners, steroids, SSRI antidepressants, or other painkillers
• Take lithium, digoxin, methotrexate, ciclosporin, water pills, or blood pressure medicines
• Are pregnant or trying to get pregnant

Also, remember:

• Do not take other NSAID painkillers at the same time
• It should not be used while breastfeeding
• Tell the nurse or doctor at once if you get severe pain, swelling, or skin colour change at the injection site
• Get help at once if you have black stools, vomit blood, or have chest pain
• Tell your doctor at the first sign of a skin rash or blisters
• Do not drive if you feel dizzy, drowsy, or have vision problems

Voren Injection is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience side effects.

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Spinning feeling
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Indigestion
• Stomach pain
• Wind
• Loss of appetite
• Rash
• Pain or hardness at the injection site
• Raised liver enzymes in blood tests

Serious side effects:

• Stomach bleeding, ulcer, or tear in the gut
• Heart attack or stroke
• Severe allergic reaction
• Severe skin reaction with blisters or peeling
• Liver problems
• Kidney problems
• Low blood cell counts
• Skin and tissue damage at the injection site

Storage Instructions

• Do not store above 30°C
• Keep in the original pack to protect from light
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after expiry date
