Talk to Colorectal Surgeon on Hard Stools, Anal Burning & Possible Rectal Bleeding

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 25 years old, Islamabad

I have had IBS-C/constipation for the past 2–3 years, with symptoms usually occurring 1–2 times a week.

However, for the last 2–3 months, my stools have become unusually hard.

About 3–4 weeks ago, I had itching around the anus along with a tearing sensation when passing stool or gas. These symptoms lasted for about 2 days and then completely resolved.

About 2 weeks ago, I developed diarrhea that lasted 6–7 days. After that resolved, I again started having hard stools.

Today, I passed a hard stool and noticed a thin reddish line/streak on the stool, which seemed to fade when water was poured over it. After passing stool, I also felt burning/discomfort around the anus for about 5 minutes, which then improved.

I would like to know whether this could be an anal fissure, hemorrhoids, or something else, and whether I need an examination or any tests.
