Talk to Dentist on Dry Socket

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female 37, Rawalpindi

How much time does it take to heal for a socket. I noticed the dry socket after 3/4 days of wisdom tooth extraction. I went to my denstist on 5th day post extraction and he put in some medicine to fasten healing process. Now its full whole week today since that. But the site is still open, though it got a little bit smaller and reddish in look, but still the opening is big.

Greetings!
Socket takes time to heal around 7-15 days & it will completely heal by 1- 1.5 months
What u need to do is do warm saline rinses for about 10-15 times a day & take painkiller if you feel pain (suggested by your dentist)
InshaAllah you will feel better
Regards,
Dr Sana Maqsood

I feel sorry for the pain you are experiencing. Once a wound develops into a dry socket, it takes 5-7 days to heal. but mind it that the pain of the extraction socket is still there that lasts usually in 15-20 days. You keep rinsing from warm saline water, and take pain killer medicine if needed. AND DON'T TOUCH THE WOUND.

Hope that answers your question.

Do proper cleaning and rinsing, avoid eating food which might get stuck at healing site, take painkiller as needed, revisit your Dentist for re evaluation. it will be all fine, as it takes around a wk to 10 days for initial healing to complete

It takes time for proper wound healing and especially bone socket will take months to fill the socket gap. Don't worry keep good oral hygiene.

First of all , if it is painless nothing to worry because it takes time to close.
U just make sure , it remains clean , no food accumulation in socket , Secondly , if its hurting as u r saying its a week gone , then please visit a dentist nearby you ,go for a X.RAY (PARG) it can be infection , tooth piece.
