Tooth is a hard structure surrounded by bone which is hard as well. Infection in the tooth results in swelling but since bone is hard lot of pain is felt . Root canal is simply removal of infection

agar Karachi me Hain Tou reasonable Achi treatment k lie hum se rabta karain
The use of medicine is not a solution , you have to go for RCT and crowning of the tooth to keep it useful. The doctor made you know right.
If you want to save the tooth you must have Root canal and after that there will be a cap on the tooth. Only cap without root canal is just wastage of money and wastage of time. It’s of no use and no value.
