My child's glans penis is black after undergoing hypospadias surgery. What is this condition and how it can be treated. I contacted many doctors but does not seem they do understand this condition or they have enough knowledge about it. Please guide precisely
ASALAMUALAIKUM, the black/blue discoloration of penis head/Glans penis is probably die to it's ischemia. You cannot do anything currently other than wait. need to go back to the operating surgeon and show him/her this has happened.
the glanz seems to be gangrene.for now it needs topical antibiotic application..like polyfex plus three to 4 times ..warm sitz bath three times . let the tube left in situ..for 2 weeks..will review after 2 weeks.. at this stage no intervention needed..filhal wait n watch..
Unfortunately this boy seems to have lost his glans and will need reconstructive surgery from a plastic surgeon later at adulthood
Dear only Dressing at present, then wait for demarcation of gangrene tissue if any, it might slough off automatically if not then may need debridement.
It is very much complicated, for detail plz visit .
It is a rare complication of the surgery that occur due to loss to blood supply to the glans
It needs to be followed up clinically by expert paediatric and plastic surgery specialists
