Advant Tablet uses include relaxing blood vessels to lower blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems. It is an antihypertensive medication containing Candesartan Cilexetil, which belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) class. It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II hormone, which causes blood vessels to narrow.
Your doctor might give you Advant Tablet for:
High blood pressure
Heart failure
Prevention of stroke in patients with hypertension
Prevention of heart attack in high-risk patients
Kidney protection in diabetic patients with high blood pressure
Left ventricular dysfunction after heart attack
Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.
For hypertension: Starting dose 8mg once daily, may increase to 16mg once daily; maximum dose 32mg/day
For heart failure: Starting dose 4mg once daily, may increase gradually up to 32mg once daily as tolerated
For hypertension (weight less than 50kg): Starting dose 4-8mg once daily; dose range 2-16mg/day
For hypertension (weight more than 50kg): Starting dose 8-16mg once daily; dose range 4-32mg/day
Not recommended for children under 1 year
Not recommended for heart failure treatment in children under 18 years
How to Take:
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Can be taken with or without food.
Take at the same time each day for best results.
Do not stop medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.
Don't use Advant Tablet if you:
Are allergic to Candesartan or any ingredients in the tablet
Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
Have diabetes and are taking aliskiren
Have severe liver disease
Have severe kidney problems or are on dialysis
Have very low blood pressure
Talk with your doctor first if you:
Have kidney disease or renal artery stenosis
Have liver problems
Have heart conditions or heart valve problems
Have low blood volume or are dehydrated
Are taking diuretics
Have high potassium levels
Have a history of angioedema
Are elderly
Are breastfeeding
