Aldactone Tablet uses include the treatment of fluid retention (edema), high blood pressure, and heart failure. It contains Spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic that works by blocking the effects of aldosterone hormone. This causes the kidneys to remove excess water and sodium while retaining potassium, reducing swelling and lowering blood pressure.
Your doctor might give you Aldactone Tablet for:
Edema
High blood pressure
Congestive heart failure
Primary hyperaldosteronism
Low potassium levels
Polycystic ovary syndrome
Hirsutism (excessive hair growth in women)
Hormonal acne in women
Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.
For edema: 100mg daily, may increase to 400mg
For hypertension: 50-100mg daily
For heart failure: 25mg once daily
Take in morning to avoid nighttime urination
Not recommended for children under 12 years
If prescribed, dose based on weight by doctor
How to Take:
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Take with or without food (same way each time).
Take in the morning to avoid frequent urination at night.
Do not stop suddenly without the doctor's advice.
Don't use Aldactone Tablet if you:
Are allergic to Spironolactone or any ingredient
Have high potassium levels
Have severe kidney failure or inability to urinate
Have Addison's disease
Are taking other potassium-sparing diuretics
