About Axesom Capsule

Axesom Capsule uses include the treatment of acid reflux, heartburn, and damage to the food pipe caused by stomach acid, the treatment and prevention of stomach ulcers, and H. pylori infection along with antibiotics. It contains esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that lowers the amount of acid the stomach makes, which lets the stomach and food pipe heal. Use it only under medical supervision because the dose and length of treatment depend on your condition.

Axesom Capsule Uses

Your doctor might give you Axesom Capsule for:

• Heartburn and acid reflux
• Healing of damage to the food pipe caused by acid reflux
• Keeping healed food pipe damage from coming back
• H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer, with antibiotics
• Healing of stomach ulcers caused by painkillers such as NSAIDs
• Preventing stomach and duodenal ulcers in people who need NSAIDs
• Continued treatment after injection therapy for a bleeding ulcer
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Axesom Capsule Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.

Adult Dosage:

• Damage to the food pipe from reflux: 40mg once daily for 4 weeks, and another 4 weeks if it has not healed
• Keeping healed food pipe damage from coming back: 20mg once daily
• Reflux symptoms without food pipe damage: 20mg once daily; see your doctor if not better after 4 weeks
• H. pylori: 20mg with amoxicillin 1g and clarithromycin 500mg, all twice daily for 7 days
• Healing ulcers caused by NSAIDs: 20mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks
• Preventing ulcers in people taking NSAIDs: 20mg once daily
• After injection treatment for a bleeding ulcer: 40mg once daily for 4 weeks
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 40mg twice daily to start, then adjusted by your doctor
• Severe liver disease: no more than 20mg a day

Children Dosage:

• 12 to 17 years, reflux and food pipe damage: the same doses as adults
• 12 to 17 years, H. pylori, 30kg to 40kg: 20mg with amoxicillin 750mg and clarithromycin 7.5mg per kg, all twice daily for 1 week
• 12 to 17 years, H. pylori, over 40kg: 20mg with amoxicillin 1g and clarithromycin 500mg, all twice daily for 1 week
• H. pylori treatment in teenagers should be supervised by a specialist
• Not recommended for children under 12 years

How to Take:

• Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush it.
• Take it at any time of day, with or without food.
• If swallowing is hard, open the capsule into half a glass of still water, stir, and drink it within 30 minutes.
• Then rinse the glass with half a glass of water and drink it, so you get the full dose.
• Do not mix the granules with fizzy drinks or other liquids.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is near; never take two doses together.

Axesom Capsule Warnings

Don't use Axesom Capsule if you:

• Are allergic to esomeprazole or similar medicines such as omeprazole or pantoprazole
• Take nelfinavir for HIV
• Have ever had a severe skin rash, peeling, blisters, or mouth sores after esomeprazole or a similar medicine
• Are breastfeeding

Axesom Capsule Precautions

Talk with your doctor first if you:

• Have severe liver or kidney problems
• Have osteoporosis or take steroid medicines
• Have had a skin reaction to another acid-lowering medicine
• Are due to have a Chromogranin A blood test
• Take clopidogrel, atazanavir, methotrexate, or warfarin
• Take phenytoin, diazepam, citalopram, tacrolimus, or digoxin
• Are pregnant or planning a pregnancy
• Have been told you cannot digest some sugars

Also, remember:

• See a doctor at once if you lose weight without reason, have trouble swallowing, vomit food or blood, or pass black stools
• You need regular check-ups if you take it for more than a year
• Long use can lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels
• High doses for over a year may slightly raise the risk of hip, wrist, or spine fractures
• See a doctor if you get a rash on sun-exposed skin with joint pain
• St. John's Wort can make it work less well

Axesom Capsule is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience side effects.

• Headache
• Stomach pain
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Wind
• Nausea or vomiting
• Harmless stomach polyps
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Itching or rash
• Swelling of the feet and ankles
• Trouble sleeping

Serious side effects:

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling or breathing difficulty
• Severe skin reaction with blisters or peeling
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Low magnesium causing cramps, fits, or irregular heartbeat
• Kidney inflammation
• Bone fractures with long use
• Severe watery diarrhoea that does not stop

• Store below 30°C
• Keep the capsules in the original blister pack to protect them from moisture
• Protect from heat and direct sunlight
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after expiry date
