Paraxyl CR tablet uses include treating major depression, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It contains Paroxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain.
Your doctor might give you Paraxyl CR Tablet for:
Major depressive disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder
Panic disorder
Social anxiety disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
Always follow your doctor's instructions exactly.
For depression: Starting dose 12.5-25mg once daily; may increase to maximum 62.5mg/day.
For anxiety/panic: 12.5mg once daily; may increase weekly to maximum 75mg/day.
For OCD: 25mg once daily; may increase as needed.
Not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years.
How to Take:
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do NOT crush, chew, or break.
Take preferably in the morning with food to reduce stomach upset.
Take at the same time each day.
May take several weeks to show full effect.
Don't use Paraxyl CR Tablet if you:
Are allergic to Paroxetine or any SSRIs
Are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors within 14 days
Are taking Thioridazine or Pimozide
Are under 18 years of age
Talk with your doctor first if you:
Have liver or kidney problems
Have a history of seizures/epilepsy
Have bipolar disorder or mania
Have bleeding disorders
Have glaucoma
Have heart problems
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Are elderly
Also, remember:
May increase suicidal thoughts initially; monitor closely especially in young adults
Do NOT stop suddenly; taper gradually to avoid withdrawal symptoms
Avoid alcohol
May cause drowsiness; use caution when driving
Avoid grapefruit juice
