Asking For Other, Male 12, Khanewal
My niece has been diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) of size 25mm in the age of 12 years. He had no signs of this disease before that diagnosis. My question is, can this ASD be treatable using device closure (catheter method) without heart surgery, or open heart surgery is necessary. If open heart surgery is compulsory, when should it be done. I have also attached his echo cardiogram report. Please help me.
can be closed with device
Surgery, that too after evaluation of pulmonary htn.
For suitability of device closure a formal consultation is required and yes if candidate is suitable then device closure is a viable option
proper consultation with proper work up fregarding size of device is required for ASD closure intime to avoid sypmtoms specially paradoxical emboli cynosis etc
