any x-rays or MRI?
i think he has written acl injury. if mri is not there he might do some diagnostic mri and reconstruction. otherwise you can get mri and see what report says.

Salam, your father got Arthritis of knee joint most likely, he shall get x-ray of both knees AP Lateral views and shall be examined by Orthopedic surgeon nearby, once knee arthritis is in advanced stage then best treatment is Total knee replacement (new knee).
