How common is it to get oral thrush for a 22 year old if he is wearing crowns from the past 3 months? The white tongue is without any pain, soreness and burning

You need to visit a dentist so that you can give proper history and get clinical examination are many reasons of thrush some med, habits like smoking,dentures etc. Since I can't see you clinically only can advice you if you smoke you need to stop. Antifungal med are adviced for thrush but you need to visit a dentist so that one can see and advice you accordingly.

Agreed. Good approach . Without physically examining the patient or in the present scenario with pictures and telemedicine , it’s not possible to advise any treatment .

Oral thrush has got no connection with crowns. it's a clinical feature of fungal infection and needs few investigative procedures for proper diagnosis and treatment. white tongue doesn't mean necessarily that you are suffering from thrush. need to consult specialist in oral medicine.

What else could be the reasons for white tongue if not fungal infection? It has been here for 2 days only, I have a history of bad oral hygiene in the past.

Crown is not a problem. Keep oral hygiene and brush your crown and tongue properly.
