Asking For Self, Male 18, Quetta

Dear Doctors, I am an 18-year-old male with a persistent dry cough for the past 7–8 months, without any phlegm. I have tried Calamox, Hydrozine Syrup DS, and allergy tablets, but there has been no relief.

My Chest X-ray and CBC are both normal.

Additional details: Nasal allergy and sneezing are present

Cough is worse during the day, less at night

No acid reflux or chest discomfort

No shortness of breath

Kindly advise on effective medications or treatment options to resolve this cough. Thank you.

I have also been using a mask regularly for the past 6 months.
Despite this, the dry cough is still persistent. Kindly advise further management.

Aoa young man
This is Dr Saheefa,
before further proceedings I would like to know if you had develop fever (is there any recorded thermometer reading of 100 F more?)

Secondly I would like to know if you have any history of allergies yourself or any family history? Do you smoke or are you continuously exposed to smoking? Any family history of asthma?

Are you a student? or do you work? if you work what is the nature of your work.

Are your symptoms continuous, or has there been improvement on and off?

I would appreciate it if you could answer these questions so we can find an accurate solution to your problem which is persisting for 7-8 months

AOA Dr Saheefa,
Thank you for your message.
I have not had fever and no thermometer reading of 100°F or above.
I do have a history of nasal allergies. No known family history of asthma or allergies.
I do not smoke and I am not regularly exposed to smoking.
I am a student.
My symptoms are mostly continuous over the past 7–8 months, with little improvement on and off.
I hope this helps in further evaluation.
Thank you.
