My sister is 41 years old. She has been mentally disabled since birth and cannot express or describe any of her discomforts. She suffers from severe constipation and frequent urinary infections, due to which both her urine and stool get blocked. She then writhes in pain and screams because she cannot communicate what she feels. Since she is mentally disabled, I request you to kindly give us some suggestions for her condition.Given her condition, we cannot take her anywhere for a check-up because she creates a lot of noise, and we have tried contacting many doctors but we are not getting any proper medication here. Therefore, we request you to please give us some suggestions.

Please give her regular laxatives (any van be tried, single or in combination if needed) to treat constipation and give Kleen Enema whenever severe constipation. For recurrent urinary infections, you should get urine culture and then as per the bacteria long course of suppressive antibiotic can be started. And the family will have to learn how to do intermittent urinary cathetrization. This will be done on as needed basis. Also give regular Cranberry sachets or Citralka sachets to prevent urine infections.
