Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Lahore
Hi doctor my query here is that since i crossed my 20th week of pregnancy i have been experiencing a strain in my groin area ( or deep inside my vagina) while i walk or switch legs stanging i feel that pressure, and it also increases if my bladder is full. I have visited my doc she got me done a scan where everything was normal only my cervical length has decreased from 3.7cm to 3cm (keeping in mind scans were done 2 months apart and on different machines) and she gave me duphaston and bed rest. But its been a week but i still feel that pressure sometimes when i try to indulge in house chores. I am worried will it lead to premature delivery or is it normal. P.s before experiencing this pain i have been traveling every week from lahore to faisalabad and sailkot, it increased last time i traveled from fsbd to lhr.
get your urine complete examination done and rule out vaginal infection too... persistent infection even minor can lead to preterm rest and treat the infection too
hi
it seems a very natural phenomenon related to pregnancy progress beyond 24 wk it is reasonable size to exert pressure on pelvic floor (group of muscle that make base of your pelvis area around back passage and pubic so effect of hormones make pelvic floor muscle to become lax .This cause pressure effect and some time sense of heaviness in deep vaginal area.
this may be more marked in women who have small built and small pelvic cavity.
off course if symptoms are very acute and short duration one need to keep in mind possibility of urine infection as well but if you are well otherwise and just dull nagging pressure on going for days to wks first possibility is the likely rare causes could be cervical stretch or pelvic organ prolapse both can result in late phase of the pain is intense, applying a heating pad to the sore area may help. Keep the heat low, and remove the pad after a maximum of 10 minutes.
pelvic floor exercises and yoga and platy exercise is helpful the way to do pelvic floor exercise is toTense the pelvic floor muscles as though trying to avoid urinating, hold for 10 seconds, then release. Repeat 10 times at least twice a day. This can also strengthen the muscles that the body uses to push out the baby.
It always helps to remain active during pregnancy. Doing light exercises for at least 30 minutes every day will not only help regulate the different processes of your body, but will also help relieve vaginal pain by strengthening muscles.
I hope this is helpful
regards
Kashif
