Talk to Gynecologist on C-section Operation

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 24 years old, Lahore

I have one question from the doctors. My Sister had passed away 4 months after giving birth to her child. She had a C-section. She was totally Fine right after delivery. She was able to talk everyone. Doctor said she is totally fine. But after 7-8 hours She suddenly collapsed and her last blood pressure was recorded 100/60 15 minutes ago. But after within 15 minutes she just passed away. Doctor said she had internal bleeding after operation (jo pata ni chal saki) due to internal bleeding she had clots . Just because of clots she had cardiac pulmonary arrest. Well how is it possible?? She had not any heart disease , blood pressure , Diabetes. All things were normal. Then how it could be possible?? Please can anyone explain. We don't have any family history of heart disease. Not in my parents. Not in my father's family or not in mother's family. Now this kind of heart failure will be counted as our family history or not??

Yes, it would be considered as family history.
The risk of a thrombosis is increased if you have a first degree relative, either a parent or sibling (brother or sister), with a confirmed DVT ( clots in legs ) or VE ( clots lodged in lungs )
The risk of clots is 2 times higher if you had one affected sibling and more than 10 times higher if more than 2 affected siblings.

I m her only brother. I had only 1 sister who had passed away no more sibling. Now i am the only child of my parents. She had blood clots just because of pregnancy. Is it considered as my family history for heart risk factors in future??

It is difficult to guess without having full details of the case. It can be pulmonary embolism. In Western countries it is mandatory to have a post-mortem to find out the cause of such sudden deaths.

We didn't have a post mortem. But doctor said its just because of excessive internal bleeding she suddenly collapsed and her heart got failed.
