Asking for Other, Female, 31 years old, Karachi
My friend had an exposure on 28 January 2026. She does not have any sores or symptoms, but she wants to get tested for Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and Herpes Simplex Virus 2 for peace of mind.
Kindly confirm:
1. Does AKUH have a blood test for Herpes Simplex Virus 2 IgG Antibody? We know they have the test for HSV-1 IgG 2. What is the exact test name for HSV-2 IgG which we can ask them to test? 3. After how many days from exposure should she get the HSV-1 and HSV-2 IgG tests done so the result is 100% final and conclusive? 4. Can both tests be done from one blood sample? 5. Can these tests be done at any AKUH lab in Karachi or one has to come to the main AKUH hospital on Stadium Road Karachi?
Please confirm if AKUH does these tests.

Incubation period for primary infection with either virus HSV 1—2 is 1—26 days.PCR is most sensitive for detection of HSV and should be used whenever possible. Serological tests can be used to demonstrate prior exposure to HSV
