Talk to Internal Medicine on Report Review And Guidance

Asking For Mother, Female 55, Rawalpindi

Assalam o Alaikum. This CBC report belongs to my mother. For almost the past one year, her CBC has been showing slight ups and downs in some values like RBC count, lymphocytes, MCH, etc. Usually the variation is only 1–2 points above or below normal, but it keeps happening on repeated tests.

She does not have any major symptoms, but I am concerned about these continuous fluctuations. Could you please guide if this is something normal and can be ignored, or if further investigation/tests are recommended? Also, what possible causes should be considered in such cases?

Looking forward to guidance from respected doctors. Thank you.

MashaAllah it’s very nice that you are concerned about your mother’s health. May Allah ta’ala reward you and give your mother good health, aameen. Regarding the CBC report, is there any history of Thalassemia in your family? You can get HB electrophoresis done to look for it, however it won’t affect your mother but it can be useful for the rest of the family especially any young relatives who are thinking of getting married and having children. Secondly as the RDW is a bit high I would suggest to get a Ferritin and CRP level to check for iron deficiency.

These changes show borderline iron anemia, however these changes are not significant rather minor fluctuations which every person can have and do not warrant any treatment. If the patient is asymptomatic then it’s fine .

There is inflammation in body but not severe
and other variations shows iron deficiency
Take Iberet Folic in centre of meal thats cheap vitamin
if you want diagnosis
go for
Iron Profile
Blood Culture ESR-CRP-RA-ANA-Lipid Profile(Fasting Required)

we treat disorders by diagnosing root cause and don't prescribe useless medicines that only suppress symptoms instead of treating actual issue.

Thank you for sharing your report. I have reviewed your CBC carefully. There are mild variations in some values, which are very common and usually not concerning when you are otherwise feeling well. At this stage, no urgent treatment or extensive testing is required. I recommend repeating the CBC after 2–4 weeks for reassurance. Please don’t worry, and feel free to reach out if you develop any new symptoms. I’ll be happy to review your follow-up report.
