Aoa. I have an un-diagnosed malabsorption problem. I've had nutritional deficiencies because of it. Celiac and other tests are have been negative. Symptoms are pale yellow floating stools & constipation/bloating/weakness/dry skin/weak bones & joints. My doctor has previously prescribed me rifaximin for 15 days. Which Cured my bloating and my stools also became brown/not floating. Also started having 2 bowel movements per day. But after I stopped taking rifaximin symptoms came back. I again had therapy and symptoms went away then came back. Now for the third time I'm taking a 15 day course of rafaximin. Is there a permanent /alternative solution?
Better to visit a gastroenterologist. He can suggest you further investigations with regard to malabsorption. You should have stool test as well with regard to ova and parasites and stool fat content.

Wasalam. Meanwhile u can continue rifaximine till you get an appointment. Its quite unfortunate that your diagnosis is still not clear though you have signs and symptoms of malabsorptio . Sometimes gastroentetologists do biopsy of gut. It may benefit. Unless diagnosis is confirmed specific treatment would be difficult to start.

I'm already seeing a gastroentrologist. He did biopsy for celiac which was negative. I had h pylori which was treated with triple therapy. Only rifaximin works now but stops after I discontinue it.
