Talk to Neonatologist on Spit Milk

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female 0, Dammam

Could you please respond to my query? My baby girl is almost 7 weeks. Her BW was 3.68 and current weight is 4.7. She's mostly breastfed with one feeder of formula during the night . Since yesterday I noticed she cried while being breastfed but doesn't leave the breast. When I tried to burp her she spitted with force and it had few red /brown lines with curded milk. I'm attaching a picture for your reference. Please let me know if it's a matter of concern. She's a healthy baby otherwise.

Babies do spit milk sometimes, so donot worry as your baby gaining weight.
Continue mother feed.
If spitting continues with streaks of red lines it may be GERD gastroesophageal reflux disease which should be evaluated.
Right now continue mother feed?

one episode like that is not of much concern.
however repeated episodes need assessment.
