Asking For Mother, Female 45, kasur, Punjab, Pakistan
My mother having massive pleural effusion in right lung.we done thoracentesis and sent the fluid in laboratory.Report of pleural fluid shows a typical cells. Then we got FNAC of cervical lymph nodes which shows melgnancy.Doctor also suggests as CT guided biopsy. Now I want to ask you how and where we drain plearul effusion and what is best procedure for it.Thank you
If cervical lymph nodes are there, biopsy can be taken from them.
For pleural effusion, if it is coming again and again, there are few options like repeated drainage or chest tube drainage and pleurodesis which is a procedure that also prevents further build up of fluid. Also there is an option of Pleuroscopy in which biopsy and pleurodesis both can be done simultaneously.
Best would be to discuss these options with your pulmonologist
