He needs to be seen by a speech and language pathologist. A proper speech assessment should be done to check if he has any phonetic phonological issues. After that, the therapist can make a treatment plan to help him speak more clearly. It’s better to start early so he doesn’t face difficulties later on.
he has articulation errors
There are 26 sounds in both Urdu and English. Sometimes, a child may have difficulty producing certain sounds, which is referred to as an Articulation Disorder. At the moment, the child is five years old, so the errors are developmentally appropriate. However, if the issue persists beyond six years of age, it will be classified as an articulation disorder. Regular speech therapy is strongly recommended. With consistent sessions, InshaAllah, the child’s speech will become clear.

I hope you are doing well. My name is Rameez, and as a speech therapist, I want you to know that I’m here to support you on your journey to clearer and more confident speech.
Below you’ll find a tailored exercise along with some important guidance:
1. Daily Articulation Exercise
a. Warm-Up Breathing:
Purpose: To relax your vocal cords and prepare your speech muscles.
How to Do It: Take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for 3 seconds, and then slowly exhale through your mouth. Repeat this 5 times.
b. Lip Trills:
Purpose: To help control airflow and tone your voice.
How to Do It: Gently press your lips together and blow air through them so that they “buzz” or “vibrate.” Do this steadily for 10–15 seconds. If needed, support your cheeks with your fingers to keep the airflow controlled.
c. Syllable Repetition:
Purpose: To improve clarity and fluency.
How to Do It: Choose simple syllable combinations like “ma–pa–ka” or “ba–da–ga.” Start slowly, pronouncing each syllable clearly before increasing your speed gradually. Practice in front of a mirror to observe your mouth movements.
d. Word and Sentence Practice:
Purpose: To integrate improved articulation into everyday speech.
How to Do It:
Begin with short words that target troublesome sounds.
For example, if you find the “s” sound difficult, practice words like “sun,” “simple,” and “speech.”
Move on to simple sentences like “I see a small cat” or “My smile is bright.”
Emphasize clarity with each word while maintaining a natural pace.
e. Reading Aloud:
Purpose: To build confidence and fluidity.
How to Do It: Choose a short paragraph or a few sentences from a favorite book. Read aloud slowly and deliberately, pausing at punctuation. Focus on the articulation of each word, and gradually work on increasing the pace as you become more comfortable.
2. Guidance and Next Steps
Regular Practice: Consistency is key. Aim to practice these exercises daily for at least 15–20 minutes.
Self-Monitoring: If you find it challenging at any point, record your practice sessions and listen back. This can help you track improvements and identify areas needing extra focus.
Online Consultation: Remember, if you ever feel that the exercises are too difficult, or if you are not seeing the progress you expect, please consider booking an online consultation. This personalized session will allow us to identify specific challenges and adjust the exercises to suit your needs even better.
Additional Tips:
Practice in a quiet space free from distractions.
Warm-up exercises before speaking can help reduce tension and improve your performance.
Stay patient and positive. Every small improvement is a step forward on your journey.
By following these steps and maintaining a regular practice routine, you should experience gradual improvements in your speech clarity and confidence. Remember, I am here to support you every step of the way. Should you have any questions or feel the need for further personalized assistance, do not hesitate to reach out for an online consultation.
