Asking for Self, Male, 30 years old, England
I have been suffering with this issue of difficulty in speech for sometime now. I start my day with a good, deep voice but as the day goes on, my voice substantially becomes weak. I literally have to force myself to utter a few words. Could I please book a consultation with you? I live in the UK so our times will have to be coordinated. Thanks
Are you struggling with utterance of sound or words?? As these both are different to deal with.. öne goes for voice disorder and other speech sound disorder.. to explore the exact matter and proper diagnosis then treatment accordingly you have to book an appointment with speech therapist..
sure book an appointment according to my time 10pm night. c u inshallah
Thank you for reaching out.
Based on what you've described starting your day with a strong voice that weakens as the day progresses and having to force your voice later on this could be a sign of a voice fatigue condition or muscle tension dysphonia. Other possibilities include vocal cord weakness or even acid reflux (LPR), which can affect the voice box throughout the day.
Here are a few initial steps you can consider:
Hydration – Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your vocal cords lubricated.
Voice Rest – Give your voice breaks during the day. Avoid straining or raising your voice.
Avoid Caffeine and Smoking – These can dry out the throat and irritate vocal cords.
Posture and Breathing – Poor posture and shallow breathing can contribute to voice fatigue. Diaphragmatic breathing (from the belly) supports healthy voice use.
Humidify Your Environment -Dry air can worsen vocal fatigue. Use a humidifier if possible.
Next Step: Book a Consultation
Since you mentioned you're in the UK, I recommend seeing an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) specialist and a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) for a proper voice assessment, which may include laryngoscopy to examine the vocal cords.
You can book a remote consultation with a speech therapist who has experience in voice therapy. Many clinics now offer video sessions. If you'd like, I can recommend UK-based voice therapists or help coordinate a virtual session based on your time zone.
Let me know if you’d like exercises or daily habits to try in the meantime.
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.
Thanks.
