Asking for Self, Female, 29 years old, Islamabad
I'm a 29-year-old female with a history of recurrent kidney infections, protein traces in urine, gout (slightly high uric acid), and frequent water retention. My lipid profile has stayed elevated for years despite clean eating.
Recently on my endocrinologist’s advice, I had an ultrasound. It shows:
Right kidney now 6 cm (was 10 cm on past CT) with a <1 cm cyst
Left kidney has mild to moderate hydronephrosis
Bladder shows signs of cystitis
This sudden size difference is worrying. Do I now need a CT scan, DTPA/MAG3, or other imaging/tests to understand the cause and assess kidney function?
It is definitely concerning. Looks like the reason could be chronic pyelonephritis. Underlying VU reflux needs to be ruled out. You should consult a nephrologist without delay.
