can remain for some days or week after delivery, in many women bp gradually returns to normal within few weeks to 3 months, so it does not always become permanent.please continue the bp medicine as prescribed.do not stop medicine on your own.

In most cases of gestational high blood pressure (also known as pregnancy-induced hypertension), the elevated blood pressure is temporary and typically resolves after delivery. The blood pressure medicine prescribed during pregnancy is usually for managing the condition to protect both you and the baby during this critical period. It is unlikely that you will need to take high blood pressure medication for a lifetime solely because of gestational hypertension.

However, it is important to closely monitor your blood pressure postpartum, as some women may develop chronic hypertension after pregnancy. Your doctor will evaluate your blood pressure regularly after delivery to determine if continued treatment is necessary. If your blood pressure returns to normal and stays controlled without medication, then lifelong treatment is not needed.

The rationale is that gestational hypertension is specifically related to pregnancy and usually resolves after the baby is born, unlike chronic hypertension which is a long-term condition.

For more detailed information, you can refer to resources such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines on hypertensive disorders in pregnancy:
https://www.acog.org/womens-health/faqs/hypertensive-disorders-in-pregnancy

And the Mayo Clinic\'s overview of gestational hypertension:
https://www.acog.org/womens-health/faqs/hypertensive-disorders-in-pregnancy

Always follow your doctor’s advice and attend your postpartum check-ups to ensure your blood pressure is well managed.
