The occipital Neuroglia (ON) affects the occipital nerve, which begins in the upper part of the upper spinal cord and ascends to the back of the skull. The pain in this area is often due to inflammation or injury to the occipital nerve. According to a report by the American Migraine Foundation, ON affects 3.2 out of every 100,000 people per year. The pain in the occipital nerve is often confused with various types of a headache, especially a migraine, because the symptoms may look similar. The treatment of occipital Neuroglia, however, is very different from migraines and headaches. Therefore, it is important that people get a correct diagnosis of a headache.
