Talk to Andrologist on Conflicting Semen Analysis Reports – Need Expert Advice

Hello Doctor,

I have been married for one year and my wife and I have been trying to conceive, but we have not been successful yet.

I recently had two semen analyses performed at two different laboratories:

* One at Chughtai Lab (a well-known laboratory). * One at a local laboratory (Shaheen Diagnostic Lab).

The results are different. The Chughtai Lab report showed good sperm count and motility, but it did not mention white blood cells (pus cells). The local lab reported 8–10 pus cells/HPF, while the rest of the semen parameters were generally within the normal range.

My questions are:

1. Which semen analysis should I trust more, the Chughtai Lab report or the local lab report? 2. Could the pus cells reported by the local lab indicate a real infection, or should I repeat the test at a more reliable laboratory? 3. Should I undergo a semen culture or any additional investigations?

I have no urinary symptoms such as burning during urination, pain, discharge, or pain during ejaculation.
