Asking For Someone else, Father, Male, 53 Years old, Ittefaq Hospital
Here’s a refined version of your query:
Hi,
Yesterday, the doctors performed open-heart bypass surgery on my father. He has mentioned multiple times that he feels pain in his throat, which is preventing him from sleeping. Despite administering a heavy dose to help him rest, the doctor advised us not to disturb him. We’ve been informed he will be shifted to a room tomorrow. Could you please let me know how long this throat pain typically lasts and what precautions we should take after surgery? Additionally, how much time does it usually take for him to start walking and exercising?
It all depends upon the nature of the operation (its complexity, whether urgent, emergent or elective) and your father's heart condition, age, comorbids etc. Your surgeon is the best person to answer these questions but generally a patient usually is encouraged to walk on the second postoperative day, with assistance if he is not on inotropic supports. The pain in the throat may be due the tube inserted for the anaesthesia and should resolve over the next 2-3 days. Strepsils help. ENT input may be required if it persists.
Throat pain is due to EndoTracheal tube during anaesthesia that cause laryngeal edema stat dose of seteroid (dexamethasone) that usually a protocol for extubate on in some centres and gargles will help will b settle in 2,3 days.
Pt is usually shifted to room on 3rd or 4th post op day depending upon the condition of patient
Pt is mobilised on 2nd post op day
And what do you mean by exercise it’s depend upon the nature of exercise that when we can start .
