Talk to Cardiologist on Aortic Stenosis
Asking for Other, Male, 5 years old, Karachi
Mild aortic stenosis was diagnosed at 3 years. Dr says it is not a serious issue. The latest echo shows trivial leakage in the left ventricle. What could be the reason for this leakage and what measures should be taken? the gradient is 26 mmhg,what does the mean? Is there any medication for this issue. I am posting the latest echo done on the 7th of January 2025. Also please suggest best paediatric cardiologist in Karachi or else where other than dr Najma Patel in ziauddin and dr Mehnaz in south city.

trivial means even less than mild. that's normal. u can visit Dr. Abdul Sattar Sheikh in NICVD on tuesday and thursday
it seems very minor narrowing
nothing to do at the moment will be doing serial echo in future

This patient has a subaortic membrane by birth causing this gradient plus the leakage of aortic valve
For now just keeping a check on the progression of this disease is all that is required

What could be the reason of this leakage? And do we need to impose any restrictions over any of the child’s activities?

these leakages are normal. any one can have. nothing to worry about that. instead aortic stenosis is moderate now. u need to get echo every year now and once it gets severe it will be operated. no medicine needed. better to stay in follow up of any good paeds cardiologist. Dr sattar also do private opd in NICVD. u can get consultation there as well
